Road refresh: Section of Perry Drive SW in Perry Township to close for additional week

An underground utility project is ongoing at the railroad tracks on Perry Drive SW just south of 15th Street SW. The work has extended the closure of a section of Perry Road near railroad tracks, between 15th Street SW and Southway Street SW, until April 29.

PERRY TWP. – A section of Perry Drive SW will remain closed until April 29, as utility work along adjacent railroad tracks has been extended one week.

The closure is due to the continuation of gas line and sewer replacement work on Perry Drive between 15th Street SW and Southway Street SW, according to a news release from the Stark County Engineer's Office.

The effort is part of an overall $4.5 million project, which includes a new turning lane on Perry Drive near the railroad tracks.

Work on the project initially started April 1.

The ongoing detour route for Perry Drive motorists is Tuscarawas Street W to Raff Road SW and over to Southway Street before returning to Perry Drive. No traffic is permitted through the railroad track work area.

An average of 9,300 motorists travel that section of Perry Drive per day, according to the most recent county traffic count database.
